Title-Ruddy and Race-Prologue
Pairing-Elia/Sam
Chapter Rating-PG
Warnings-None
Spoilers-Through Holiday Cheer
Summary-"It all comes down to one of two things: ruddy and race."

Tucking her hands in her pockets, Elia surveyed the room one last time, almost afraid to let the memory sink in, the sin of the whole situation plagiarizing her perceptions of reality. She was free of the cameras, of the scrutiny, finally able to just be Elia. A springy curl appeared suddenly in front of her orange frames, bringing her back to the moment. With a sigh, Elia slung her knife bag over her shoulder and slipped silently out of the Kenmore kitchen, past the camera crews and production teams, and out of the studio, the thick Los Angeles air almost strangling. Shoving past Doneen and Damien, two of the shows numerous associate producers, Elia climbed into the cab waiting to usher her to the airport and back to Las Vegas. Slamming the door, Elia stared out the window contemplatively, blissfully unaware, until a sharp knock sounded against the glass of the still unmoving cab. With a slight start, Elia looked to her left and met eyes with Sam, his face splitting into a grin immediately.

“What do you want?” Elia snapped, unable to hide her smile behind biting sarcasm.

“You didn’t say goodbye to me!” Sam whined, opening the door.

“Goodbye,” Elia said, scooting over in the seat and wrapping her arms around his back awkwardly. For a long moment they stayed joined, before the cab driver cleared his throat innocuously, signifying that, under no uncertain terms, it was time to go.

“Look me up if you’re ever in Las Vegas, alright?” Elia mumbled against Sam’s cheek, before kissing his jam clumsily and pushing him out of the car. With a goofy but sad smile, Sam nodded and stepped away from the curb as the cab pulled away.

“You can count on it.”

This is about to turn into "Many Colors." I have like, eleven chapters written already. Is it a totally inconceivable pairing?

Awesome, I can't wait to read the rest of them. Umm no, I don't think it's totally inconceivable, it's not a pairing that would immediately jummp to my mind though.

Yesssssss. Even though the pair kinda shocked me a little. I may have to take down my Marcelia flag for a while.

I was the first to invent a Top Chef pairing word. Marcelia. I AM AWESOME. Can't wait for the next chapter.

It's rather well written. I don't exactly get the couple though, since I don't really remember the last time Sam and Elia even interacted.

don't let that get to you though. hope the 2nd chapter is good too. (I read the first chapter. Don't like this Mallory chick already, but it's still good.)

I've always been a fan of writing pairings that don't normally immediately pop to mind. I also noticed that Elia and Sam don't exactly notice each other and this story is my take on why.

Thanks for reading!

Ahh yeah. It's all good. I usually go for the couples that I can actually see something behind a lot more than the "Nevermetships" (even though we all know Sam and Elia do know each other.) But hey, you know what us crackpairing lovers say..."Proof is for people with no immagination." ;)

besides, I don't think they're bad together. IMO, Sam/Elia > Sam/Cliff. I ship slash just as much any other person, but I don't get the hype about Sam/Cliff at all. (really the only slash ship I really can stomach that I can think of for this season of Top Chef is Ilan/Marcel. hence the icon)

Ilan/Marcel = some sars hate sex right there.

Ilan-you're totally a virgin.
Marcel-I don't have to be.
~stare into each other's eyes.~
Ilan-Let's have sex.
Marcel-good idea.
